Who Would Benefit from DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy was created by Marsha Linehan as the 'gold standard' treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder and it still is considered that. But, over time, we have learned that DBT is effective in teaching and applying coping skills for ANY person struggling with managing emotions including below. I work with clients who have any of the following diagnoses or struggles:
Anxiety:
Generalized Anxiety Disorders
Panic Disorder
Postpartum Anxiety

Mood/Depression:
Major Depressive Disorder (episodes of depression)
Bipolar Disorder I & II
Persistent Depressive Disorder (always have some degree of depression)
Seasonal/Situational Depression
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/Complex PTSD
Perinatal Depression - postpartum, pregnancy, grief/loss, trying-to-concieve, partners/Dads

Other Diagnoses & Issues:
Substance Abuse
Eating Disorders - generally Binge Eating Disorder & Bulemia
ADHD
History of trauma
Life transitions & adapting to change
Overwhelming Stress - often teenagers

Problem Behaviors:
